  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • It was a balance of on-the-job experience with business skills sessions; where I was a valued part of a team of world-class professions law, helping EY clients and their businesses.

    8/10

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I learnt how to audit financial statements, how to work in small teams in the industry, how to assess and improve my work and also how to present an idea to an associate partner in a convincing and professional manner.

    7/10

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I enjoyed it a lot, although the work we were doing was fairly monotonous, it was interspersed with more interesting and engaging business skills sessions. I found the challenge to suggest an investment to an associate partner, very engaging.

    7/10

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The actual experience was fairly well organised, however the technological side was appalling. The online application couldn’t have been worse, with nothing ever submitting, it took three months and three thousand calls to their work experience call team.

    5/10

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learnt a fair bit about the culture within the audit department, but not the company as a whole.

    5/10

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • Not very much, as I was interested in the consulting side of the firm, rather than audit.

    3/10

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was paid for it, but I wasn’t reimbursed. Due to the horrendous technological problems I encountered, I wasn’t able to apply for the London course, and when I called to ask about it I was told the london course didn’t run anymore (which isn’t true), so I paid to travel to scotland from West Sussex and pay for accommodation.

    2/10

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • We met our small group and worked closely with the apprentices, but no one else.

    2/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I enjoyed the experience on the whole a lot!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Keep at the online application even when it seems that it will never work. Also, to make sure you apply to the one closest to you, and if it doesn’t come up as an option then keep enquiring.
