  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • 100% yes every single day I have learnt something new it never stops. Before coming to direct line I was at a golf academy and have never touched a car. Within the first week I could take a bumper of a car, a week later I could take the door apart etc this has lead to me now not only passing the level 2 M.E.T qualification but gone on to become the youngest ever senior ATA VDA in the country before my apprenticeships even finished. So yes I have learnt an unthinkable amount of life lasting skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • All people want is a job they enjoy and I honestly love my job! Feeling a part of a huge team where’s there’s so much responsibility and respect makes you feel good about what you’ve achieved. I also love the people I work with which makes it much easier.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Erm this is a bit of a tricky one because the VDA apprenticeship has never been done before so direct line was trying this scheme for the first time so there was and still is a little bit of uncertainty about what I do now as I’ve passed the exam 3 years early but that’s on the VDA side of it. I did the level 2 MET qualification first and that was organised to a tee! The college, the accommodation the mentors, online, studying, travel everything was just perfect!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot! All this was not what I expected when I left the golf academy. They’ve guided me through everything been patient with me when I’ve made my mistakes and allowed me to make to and redeem the mistakes I have made. They know when I’m down and have the ability to be less of a manager and more of a mate which is what you need sometimes.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When I was doing my ATA, Nigel who is a very busy man managed to create tome for me and the other lad to travel to Manchester or he’d come to us to guide us step by step though the exam and I could not have done it without him!

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It’s given me everything I have today. Thatcham took me on as a MET apprentice and helped me to pass that even though I had no experience with cars and then they went and helped me pass the biggest exam of my life which has got me to where I am today.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yeah we go out drinking every now and then and I’m mates with a few lads that play golf so we go away on golf holidays sometimes. I would like there to be more professional networking events like the RMA awards. I went last year and really enjoyed it,
