  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the hospitality industry. In my role I assist guests getting to their room, I take bookings over the phone. I also take payments by card, cash or leisure vouchers. I bring guests what they need, this could be towels or milk or tea. I also stay at the desk for most of my shift in case guests do need my assistance.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many more customer service skills since working in the hospitality industry and starting my apprenticeship. I have learnt the key behaviours to display when working and I can now put them into action with ease. I was able to develop my confidence more than before and I feel a lot more independent now too.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as it is very easy to understand. There are a lot of online resources to help you and you are allocated a private tutor to assist you any day of the week. I find it enjoyable as it is very straightforward and i can find what I need to access quickly.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very structured. It is broken down into a month by month process, depending on how much I am able to progress each month. This helps me to track how much I have done. There are rough time limits which allows me to keep ontop of my work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are sometimes fundraising activities for our charity great ormond street hospital but no sports activities or professional networking that i know of. I think it would be a good idea to implement this. However, there are fundraising runs that you can participate through the charity so i suppose in a way there is.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Whitbread to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think premier inn is a great place to stay. Working there myself i know the staff members are genuine and will do whatever they can to make sure that the guests have a great stay. The rooms are always clean and comfortable too and the air conditioning, heating and hot water always work amazing. There is always tasty food served at the restaurants attached too.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • The advice i would give to people applying to premier inn is to just be yourself. Dont try and pretend to be professional or try too hard to impress. Just show your true personality and be polite. Also, just be patient. The managers are very busy and so it might get difficult to look through many cvs and decide which employees they want to join the team. So always be patient and you'll be surprised.
