  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Digital Engagement Apprentice at Unilever. I work with the Global Communications team and work internally by managing the intranet. I keep the site up to date with events, news and interesting topics employees may find useful about Unilever as a business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new IT skills and networking skills since being at Unilever. Unilever has taught me how to be more confident when interacting with new people, which has helped broaden my connections. My IT skills have been improved as I use software such as InDesign, Photoshop and Excel.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme because I get to learn new topics that I have not learnt before. I have learnt how to communicate effectively, how to write correctly, rules, regulations and procedures that the business has to follow to be effective.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well organised and the tasks are presented clearly. The tasks are always new to me so that makes them much more fun and interesting to research on.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive so much support from my employer. My team is very supportive of me and respect that Friday's are my study days for my apprenticeship work. I feel comfortable talking to my team if I face any issues at all at work and during my programme.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I do receive support from my training provider and always have new tasks that I haven't learnt before. On a few occasions when I have had questions there can be quite a delay in response time, but other than that it is good.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have definitely learnt new skills from my training provider that I can use in my day to day role. These include communication skills, networking, learning rules and regulations and how to be a great employee.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At work there are opportunities to socialise and network with colleagues outside of work. Unilever also hosts events that employees can get involved in. There is the opportunity for apprentices to shadow jobs too to see if they would enjoy that role in the business.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Unilever is an amazing conglomerate company that I am proud to work for. There are so many opportunities to grow and develop my skill set in this business because employees are encouraged to try new things constantly. All of the employees are so friendly and welcoming to, which is great.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • I would say to be yourself and be as confident as possible. Unilever loves ambitious people who are willing to learn and flourish in a huge business. It is important to be as keen as possible when faced with new tasks or challenges. Also, you have to believe in yourself!
