  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a technical consultant, my role involves working on large IT transformation projects. Sometimes I am required to travel to a customer site and engage with a project team to create deliverable for the customer. The work streams that I have been involved in this far have greatly varied depending on the project that I have been brought onto. My employer has given me lots of opportunity to discover where I would like my career to progress.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since joining my apprenticeship I have gained lots of industry standard qualifications that can be used throughout my future career. I have gained real world experience of appropriate business etiquette. I have greatly improved skills such as public speaking, with my employer running workshops frequently. I have also developed skills with regards to my degree program, I have linked many of these educational skills directly into my day job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • When first starting my programme I was uneasy. There was an uncertainty as to whether this job was right for me and if I had made the right decision. However this uncertainty was quickly addressed by my employer. They ensured that I had plenty of options in terms of where to develop my skills. After over a year and a half at the company, I have been a part of many different aspects of consulting and have really enjoyed finding my career development!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme structure was defined from the outset. Within my first week at the company, I worked with my employer as well as my training provider to define a structure that worked best for me. This initially was a little slow, due to the fact that I was so new to my role. However once I picked up workload, I now feel that there is a clear structure for me to follow that is also flexible.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has offered lots of support. These come in the form of: Mentors, Buddies, Key contacts and regular interaction with my manager. This is extremely useful as I feel comfortable enough to reach out to anyone within the business and ask for help or support with either my day role or with any training material.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider with my programme has taken time to grow upon feedback that the apprentices and out employer have provided. However they have clearly shown improvement compared to the support structure that was in place when we initially started the programme. There is a key point of contact that can be used to provide feedback to the training provider. However there could also be more support from the likes of tutors.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has given me much of the theory to take into my role. From my project management module helping me to understand project structures to my work based portfolio providing a guide on key areas to link theory and practical work. However there are also some modules and some content that does not relate directly into my job role, for example research methods has been a module that is hard to link directly to my day to day role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is lots of communication sent out within the company with regards to different activities that take place at each office. From an early careers point of view, there is a strong structure that can be used to create your own extra curricular activities such as sports or meet ups.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Hewlett Packard Enterprise to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would highly recommend working for Hewlett Packard Enterprise because of the company ethos, there is a strong feeling of everyone helping one another. Due to the friendliness of everyone there have been lots of employees that I feel I can reach out to and talk to. Furthermore everyone provides honest feedback on how they feel you are getting along. Despite the fact that Hewlett Packard Enterprise is such a large company, it still feels like your work is recognized and rewarded by the company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hewlett Packard Enterprise?
  • When applying for the role. I triple checked my CV! I made sure that I knew what I had written and could discuss any part of it. Even if you don't have experience when applying, it is important to talk about any hobbies that make you who you are, as character means so much!
