  • I manage people, product and equipment within a restaurant for the largest global fast food chain, ensuring all business tasks are completed and maintaining brand standards to maximise returns for the company and franchisees. I coordinate training and development for all employees within my restaurant, manage Human Resources and performance management

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have completed a Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeship in Hospitality. Attending developmental courses to expand my knowledge of Human Resources, disciplinary procedures, advanced performance management as well as leadership development seminar. Whilst studying this degree I have expanded my knowledge in all these areas to understand aspects outside of McDonald's

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This degree is exceptional- it takes what we know from our current rule and shows us not just how it applies to McDonald's but also expands our knowledge and allows us to see other ways of operating for success. The degree allows us to embrace new ways of thinking in our current role and stretches our potential.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • MMU are exceptional organised. They have clear links with McDonald's so that everyone e understands the process and the expectations. Our schedules work well around our ongoing jobs, and take business demands into consideration. There is cohesion and cooptation on all levels so that everyone wins in all situations

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • McDonald's provide endless support. We have 20% of our working time given towards to studies: and we are provided support to explore new ways of thinking. As the university put the job first, it allows the employers to see the benefits and everyone wants to work together for the degrees success

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • ALL THE SUPPORT! MMU can't give you more than enough support. They're there at all hours, by all forms of communication. They celebrate our success and help us when we are struggling. The resources available are exceptional- especially for distance learners. This process is made easy because they genuinely want to help you succeed

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have flourished. Our projects are designed to apply to the work place- they're appropriate so that everything we do has a positive benefit upon my daily job. I have become more confident, able to see new ways of doing things and enhancing the current operations. It has helped me to created a better work place for all

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • With mum you can get as involved as you would like. I am a course representative and can help others by being a voice for them. But you don't have to. With McDonald's we always look for ways to help the community and we can create opportunities to do this- through fund-raising etc.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • McDonald's has taken all my potential, nurtured it- expanded it and helped me become a leader of a team of 150+ people. I have had the opportunity to work in the olympics, travel to other countries, represent them in national audits...and best of all, work with the most supportive people daily. McDonald's changed my life


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
  • Be open to it being more than just burgers, chips and fizzy pop- see beyond this and see the opportunities. Our executive teams...have all served on tills, cooked fries and mopped floors. See the potential and the opportunities and say YES to them all. McDonald's brings friends and families together- in front of and behind the counter
