  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Professional Bid and Proposal Manager working within the renewable energies industry. Responsible for multi-million pound tenders and proposal responses across a wide range of varying solutions from onsite generation to energy efficiency. Working with key internal stakeholders to provide a robust high quality personalised proposal. Managing the Bid/Proposal process from start to finish in both Public and Private sectors.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have increased my knowledge and understanding of the Bid process from start to finish in line with the APMP industry standard. I have learnt the best practices from this standard and the apprenticeship has taught me to apply these learning in a realistic manner within my business and role to improve the process.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme covers a wide body of knowledge and is taught in a blend of engaging manners from webinars to training days. The apprenticeship has moved online for the duration of Covid-19 and this has been done effectively as to not disrupt the time frame of my learning. The 'team' atmosphere that the cohort provides allows for a sharing of ideas and this in turn increases my engagement with the course.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme follows and roll on roll off modular approach which I have found to be very well structures with clear learning aims and objectives for each session. These objectives relate directly to the APMP standard and this forms the basis of the work which I upload ensuring each piece is targeted toward a specific learning objective.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been great in allocating me time to complete the apprenticeship and providing me with support and contacts in which I can get in touch if a problem arises. My employer sees the value in me achieving the apprenticeship standard and the quality of work that comes with it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received great support in the form of a mentor/coach as well as other contacts as assessors, welfare/safeguarding and even offered support and training for IT. There is a wealth of contact for various needs and I have found the individuals to be very welcoming and accommodating to my questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Although I have just begun the apprenticeship I feel that the modules are very good as they put the best practice theory of the APMP into reality for day-to-day business and how I can realistically make good changes within my organisation to improve both our process and quality of Bids.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there is a wealth of opportunities including a sports and social society that hold regular events such as football matches and gold lessons to the social events like day trips and theatre trips. All of these come at a heavily discounted rate for employees which is a great way to meet new colleagues.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company has a great working ethos. The atmosphere is good and the people that work there are always approachable and friendly. The company cares a lot for its employees welfare and I feel valued as a member of staff. They offer lots of benefits besides a good wage that venture into improving social and mental health.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • Take time to think about the 'why' you want to join a company like E.on and look beyond the brand and reputation to more personal things that you can truly relate to. Research about the role and think about what you can offer that team/position and then think of experience/qualifications to back this.
