  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • It has been a very good opportunity to develop on both existing skills and new ones too. Such as my I believe my communication skills have improved greatly, my time management has become more efficient and my team working skills have developed significantly due to the nature of the work I do and how closely I work with my colleagues. I have also had the opportunity to undertake many training courses that have been very relevant to the work I do and this has had an impact on the skill set that I have developed over time.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far, I have enjoyed the programme that I am undertaking - Business Administration. It has given me the opportunity to further understand how an organisation is run and how imperative my role can be. Both aspects (learning and work) of the apprenticeship have been very rewarding. They have allowed me to continuously push myself to achieve more and the range of work I have been able to undertake has also been interesting to say the least.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that it has been well organised, such as upon first joining I undertook a two week induction which allowed me to gain a better understanding of how the Financial Ombudsman works, it's role within the financial services industry and the different values it holds as an inclusive organisation.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I have received from the Financial Ombudsman has been second to none. My manager has given me work that has enabled me to develop new skills and take on several responsibilities which has given me autonomy, whilst also being on hand to provide any support. My mentor has also been able to support me when undertaking new tasks and providing training modules to help me gain a good understanding of the task at hand. The organisation also has an abundance of resources available on their intranet.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider - BPP has been on hand to provide support on any queries I may be having with the learning modules I complete - they provide prompt responses which always have a solution to my query. They have also provided very educational webinars/face to face days which has allowed to gain a better understanding of the structure of the programme and what I need to do in order to attain the qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think to a certain extent it does. However a lot of what is covered through the training provider is generalised and I do I bit more than what the training provider lays out within its programme. However, it has allowed me to put what I do into context in terms of the wider organisation.
