  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently I am based at Macclesfield college completing a level 3 general engineering course. For the first year my role is to work everyday in a college environment to complete my level 3 qualification. One day a week I complete a PEO lesson which is another qualification necessary in my apprentice qualification.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed many skills and learned a lot. I have learned about health and safety, physics of engineering, materials of engineering, different ways to operate machines, design engineering and much more. I have also learned a lot from the practical PEO lessons, which is mainly mechanical engineering and lots of hands-on work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme highly. I enjoy the hands-on work where I learning to use lots of different tools and using different machines constantly. I enjoy working with the people I am surrounded by and get on with my work friends well. I enjoy the work I complete also as I learn a lot of valuable information.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured and organised. There is a timetable which allows me to understand the structure of each day and any changes made. Any work done is online so if I need help or am unsure, I can look online to receive any work I need to understand. I have lots of support around me.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive plenty of support from my employer. I feel as I can reach out to my employer whenever I need to and I have done in the past. I feel if I have any emergencies I can reach out easily and if I need any help with work, he will help.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support from my training provider. While having to work from home, calls have been organised to ensure that any questions can be answered and help can be given. they are always available and I feel like I can reach out to them whenever I have any problems.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification is helping me understand all of the basic fundamentals of my role, and is allowing me to understand different aspects and areas or my role. I am learning all of the essential information that is needed for my role and I feel like it is all very important, I am learning about many different machines and how to operate them.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are many extra curricular activities. these include activities such as football where there are groups which can go to the football area outside of work hours and play. there are also online networking events that are always ongoing for all workers to easily get involved in via email or the work home page.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • it is a very positive place to work at. everybody that I have met at the workplace are very professional and the workplace is a very large place where each area is a great place to walk into. all facilities needed are available for anyone and there are plenty of benefits and opportunities.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
  • make sure that they want to work hard to get into a good position doing a job which they would enjoy and want to excel in. being professional is very important in and out of the workplace ensuring that all wok is done and that you get along with all other workers, as getting to know other people who work in different areas can have great benefits.
