  • My role of a Junior Software Developer requires me to use HTML, CSS and JS. The main part of our role is creating brand pages for manufacturers based on designs provided by UX.

  • Definitely. I've learnt so many new skills but the real focus has been on solidifying my knowledge in HTML, CSS and Javascript.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme. It's really varied and I'm constantly learning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well structured. From sending off observation records to making sure I am hitting all the required criteria. We've been given plenty of resources for exams too.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • AO have been amazing in providing support and resources to help me with my apprenticeship. When I've asked for help and support on particular topics they've contacted various people in the business and asked them to get in touch with me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Code Nation have regular contact with me and provide support where necessary. I receive feedback on where to improve my work and I'm offered support from their tutors.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification enables me to understand basic principles and practices. It gives me a solid foundation to go on and learn from, helping me perform better in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are always quizzes and activities going on in the office, with an open invite to them. I play football every week with other developers which is a great opportunity to get to know people in the office.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • AO have gone above and beyond in supporting me since joining. I was well prepared in coming to the office and had all the tools required to do the job when I arrived.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AO?
  • AO hire both on technical skill and whether you're a good fit for the office. The AO values are bold, smart, driven, fun and caring.
