My role is a Business Administrator. This involves me taking minutes for meetings, helping with filing & printing, organising my line manager's calendar, updating reports and doing similar admin based tasks.
I entered the role with 0 experience. I've developed my communication skills on the phone, through emails and face to face. I've learned new skills using different computer packages. I've learned minute taking skills and many necessary skills for the office and more.
I've really enjoyed my experience so far at FOS. The people are really friendly and welcoming, the company are truly invested in the wellbeing of their employees. My workload is never overbearing yet still challenges me and keeps me engaged and allows me to learn more.
It has been quite an organised process. There was a 2 week induction which allowed me to feel more confident and knowledgeable by the time I properly settled into my department. I was allocated a buddy, they helped and guided me through my experience.
FOS offers a lot of help to its employees, whether it be about mental illness, parental support or general concerns, there are different committees dedicated to this. My manager and buddy consider me and the coursework I need to do and put that first for me so I can succeed.
BPP do a good job with constant reviews with our coach. This is to have support and guidance to succesfully get through our coursework and to pass the apprenticeship. We attend webinars and face to face sessions to go through our modules.
I feel it helps as it educates me on how business works and allows me to then connect what I learn to what I do in the workplace. It helps me understand how my role works within a big organisation and helps it to operate.
There are constantly many extra-curricular activities to take part in. There are also many networks to join.
