Civil Engineer Apprentice Review

My role varies from day-to-day; most days I'll be on site taking part in surveys, setting out and monitoring groundworkers progress, other days I will be in the office working with detailed drawings, spreadsheets and other documents.

Since the beginning of my apprenticeship, I have learnt a great deal in college and on site. College has taught me the fundamentals of civil engineering, whereas being on site has allowed me to explore this further by putting academic learning into practice using a variety of engineering tools.

So far I have enjoyed the program, both in college and on site.

The program is well structured, consisting of pre-determined time frames spent in college and on site.

I receive a great deal of support both from my line manager in college and line manager on site.

I receive a lot of support from the college, the vast majority of tutors are helpful and help me achieve my qualification.

The qualification achieved through the college helps me gain a thorough understanding of what is happening on site and the majority of skills learnt in college can be used on the job.

We get the opportunity to play football with other apprentices once a week.

The BAM Nuttall apprenticeship is a great way to learn both academically and on the job, giving plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and gain knowledge from experienced engineers.
