  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is front of house in the hospitality industry. It involves giving the customer an experience in the pub by providing great customer service. My job involves dealing with food (hot and cold) and pouring a number of different drinks from hand pulled to bottles. It involves helping the customers out if they have a problem and talking about the knowledge I have on the pub and city.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skill within the pub and from doing my apprenticeship. I have learnt new keys words that my business uses in the hospitality industry which will help me develop bigger roles in my job. I have learnt new skills on how to use the technology in the pub from changing barrels to doing online booking. I am still developing skills with the job and different higher job roles too!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I think the programme is very good and it has different type of learning way within it it, from online workshops to projects that I have a time litim to complete. It is very easy to follow and any problems I just ask my trainee. The online workshops are fun and helps you out a lot.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • On my programme, it is very well organised because you have step by step parts and you can see what your plan is throughout the year of the course. Each level is structured and covers everything that you will need to know or develop to move up roles.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In my work place I receive many support from managers to the same level as me. I can ask questions and get help from higher experience worker and they will tell me about their experiences in the course of they have completed it! The work place will give their opinions on subject if I need it too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my trainee because ignore I have any problems I can just email them or text them and they will get back to me as soon as possible, with the right help I need. They explain everything clearly to me and will happily go over anything I don’t understand and will work with me more on that subject if needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Knowing that you are getting a qualification helps you look at your job role in another eye than it just being a job. It helps you perform better and if you don’t know anything or does something wrong you have a different mind set on dealing with it because you know it will help with you qualifications

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My work place has many different Activities within the place or outside too. It has a Facebook page when everyone that works with the business is in so you can clearly see what is going on or any new. They do a five by five football once a year against each pub and there is many workshops on line which you can attend

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is well organised business and you always know what is going on. There are may benefit within the work place as well


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mitchells & Butlers?
  • Apply for one of the apprenticeship too as well as a job with Mitchell’s and butlers
