  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • IT Support role troubleshooting and supporting users, administration on all users and it documents, liasing with suppliers for it requests, maintain IT infrastructure, internal IT auditor.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • before starting my role i had little knowledge in IT and now i am able to confidently support users and now have more confident in what i do. I also lacked confidence with emails and talking to senior managers and know able to work with them.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme at work because in my role i am always learning new things and every day is different to the last. I am always eager to learn new things thherefor i really enjoy going to class as i am learning about more role in more dept.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe with my apprenticeship it could have been better structured as i had 3 different assessor looking after me and its been a struggle to get in to what i was doing but now i believe i have a grips of it more by corresponding with the correct people.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • my employer really supports me in all aspects of the job and my future. he gives me the time I need for my apprenticeship like for example booking study days off and if i need help with my studies his always welcome to answer any questions.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • i see me assessor every 4 weeks but in between i think they should give more support like maybe checking up on how i am doing and if i require more support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification gives me a better understanding on my role as i was able to carry out task but know I'm able to understand what i am doing.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes there are alot of extra curricular activities like lunch and learn, volunteering and football outside work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Costain to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Costain has really helped me developed my career by always assisting me with my needs like for example this apprenticeship is a great way to get my foot in the door in this field as i had little experience and knowledge in my role.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Costain?
  • I would tell them that Costain is a company that really believes in development and you will get all the support you need to take your career to the next step.
