Ey Intern Review

I spoke to professionals from different sectors and completed different activities related to these. We looked through legal documents that EY employees complete daily and they explained these to me. I also looked at audit, international taxes, tax evasion etc. I also had a mentor and we completed a leadership diploma.

I learnt a lot about the finance sector which I did not know anything about before. I learnt a lot about taxes, which everyone should know about and will help me when I am working. I also had to adhere to a schedule and wear office clothing which was a new experience.

I quite enjoyed learning new things about a sector I didn’t really know much about and seeing what they do every day . I also enjoyed meeting new people and working a full time schedule for 2 weeks. It was a fun experience and I met a lot of new people.

It was very well organised. We had times allocated for when we’d be in meetings talking to people in the sector, times for when we’d be undertaking tasks, lunch time, meeting times with the internship organisers and time to fill in our leadership report. The organisation allowed us all to make the most out of the 2 weeks.

I learnt a lot. The atmosphere is professional but everyone knows each other and good teamwork is important throughout the office. Everyone there was lovely and hardworking and they explained things very well to me, as I was often at a loss. There is a professional but welcoming atmosphere and I liked it.

Although I enjoyed my time at my work experience, my time at EY taught me that accountancy is not the route for me. However, it also showed me that I’d like to work at an office and that I would enjoy it in a workplace like that, in a different career sector.

I was paid for the two weeks I worked at EY, though at the time I wasn’t sure if I was paid the right amount of hours as I worked it out and I wasn’t getting the same numbers. Nevertheless, any pay was appreciated and I left it at that. I was also given lunch vouchers.

Yes, a lot of them. We had a networking session and we also had one on one tAlks with employees there- about what they do and how they got to where they are. The networking event was particularly good and we also had mock interviews, which were very helpful given that university interviews were coming up next year.

It was a fun experience, I learnt a lot, made new friends and it made my career prospects clearer. I also got to earn a bit of money and got a certificate for leadership, which was an added bonus. The two weeks were an unforgettable experience with amazing people at EY.

Definitely find work appropriate clothes to wear and make sure you are on time every day. Work with the EY organisers and your mentor to make the most out of this opportunity’s. Making notes also helped me but do whatever helps you take in information as there is a lot given.
