  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • It is hard to pinpoint a day to day explanation of my role. It changes most days, but I would say for the most part I would often be doing some development work- whether that be coding/scripting or designing a process or improving one. This is often in the field of cloud automation

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Of course! We are learning every day, I have recently passed my Azure Admin exam using knowledge gained working on a real Azure client of my company. I have gained skills in coding, management and cloud as just an example of a few. It is also often open which tools you can use so long as they are deemed Accenture safe so always room to experiment with different technology

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Personally I have had a great experience and enjoy my programme thoroughly. There are of course ups and downs but a 19 months in I now feel settled and in a great place. I am doing work I find fun and feel supported in this by managers and colleagues around me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As with everything when it first begins we had some teething problems, but they have worked really hard to try to improve this for new apprentices that are picked up yearly. All issues I or anyone else experienced have been fed back to the organizers who work really hard to improve the structure of the programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • It is likely to be dependent on which team, role or part of the business you are. This effects who will manage, mentor you etc. But from a personal standpoint I've received more support than I expected learning technologies and it really sped up how quickly I became useful to teams

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider I feel does what it can and it is only a new way of learning and gaining qualifications so it is easy to moan about things but it was never going to be perfect from the start. But overall I do think they try to offer as much support as possible.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Level four had little effect on my role as the modules just weren't things I especially have used in my role. But Level 5 and 6 having seen the modules I feel have more relevance to my role and I expect them to improve my performance.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • short answer is yes, we have a dedicated team at our office that put events on. This ranges from food and drinks, to charity events to activities like bowling. We also do now get a budget for apprentice only events which has been good fun when we have been able to arrange them

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Accenture has plenty of benefits from health care to share schemes, but also personally I really enjoy the work. If someone had the same interests as me I think they'd be a good fit so long as they were ready to work hard! I also feel they do value people and try to be as flexible as possible for us in terms of work from home, flexible hours etc.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Be yourself, pretending to be what you think Accenture wants will either lead to you looking disingenuous, lowering the chance you get the role or you will actually get the role based on a personality that isn't you and this will backfire. You want the company to fit your personality just as much as you fit what they want.
