  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My rotation vary through the first 2 years. Currently I am in Data using SQL to create reports for live calls. Attend meetings in relation to data warehouse and also undergoing further IT training. I will be later going into development, testing, it security and infrastructure gaining knowledge in all departments.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a lot of new skills this including basic meeting etiquette to learning Java/SQL gaining IT knowledge which I never had before. I have gained experience of an office job as this is my first full time job after sixth form and understood how to conduct meetings. Whereas, at university I have gained knowledge in 3 core units this including programming, web dev and business systems.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed first year gaining knowledge in various departments and understanding my company as a whole. I am excited for the next years as I will start specialising in IT Consultancy which is of an interest to me since I have started my Digital and Technology Degree Apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe that from university aspect the programme is very well structured and planned. All the lectures and seminars can be applied also to work environment and first year gave a nice introduction to the whole undergoing programme allowing everyone to wisely choose their option for the coming years at university.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get all the support from everyone. Allowing me time to study for my exams, help with any questions I may have and showing a flexible attitude to any issues I would like to speak to them about. This, I get all the support from my employer as my year is the first cohort thus receive a lot of guidelines on the programme.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get all the support from everyone. Allowing me time to study for my exams, help with any questions I may have and showing a flexible attitude to any issues I would like to speak to them about. This, I get all the support from my employer as my year is the first cohort thus receive a lot of guidelines on the programme. Taking this qualification very seriously

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I get involved in social volunteering with work helping out at wood street mission. Helping young children that are in need. I would like to get involved in more activities like these as it is lovely to help others and go and extra mile to help the people in need.

  • 9a. Would you recommend AJ Bell to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company has a lovey work ethic allowing everyone to be happy, it focuses on mental health having gym classes for employees but, also does Friday payday drinks allowing all workers to have a social and work side to their lives. Therefore, I would recommend this company as everyone is there to help


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AJ Bell?
  • To go for it and not be scared to step out of their shells as I have not had any experience in it and didn’t do it a level but currently in an it role. The advice I would give is to go for it and to stay positive
