  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy the programme at Syngenta as the prgramme is robust and you have support in every area. When I first started I was given a mentor to help ease into the working life now that I have been through the process I get to mentor others which is the best part as you stay connected with other apprentices and a community is created. All of my shift collegues are supportive and I am very lucky to have a career with Syngenta.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure is very well organised and robust as mention previuosly and I belive this is down to the apprenticeship managers we have to always support us in any actvity we are carrying out. You are given a yearly schdule so you know where you will be working and how long for which is great as you can plan where to start your NVQ units to maximise the evidnece you can collect for them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support and I think it helps having a community on the site where lots of current employees started with an apprenticeship as they understand what you are going through and they know best to help you gain the knowldeg you need to excel in your career. When you first join as an apprentice you are given a mentor to help with any issues and they are there even if you just need a chat and when you move up through the years you then become a mentor for someone else who has joined the apprenticeship programme.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Kirklees college was facing a lot of challenges regarding staff and following deadlines, despite this I completed the qualifications needed for the programme and did well on my exams. In fairness I didn't require much support but i believe if I needed any I would find it either from a tutor or the mentors at Kirklees college.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifaction matched well to what job role I was carrying out so it was good to apply the theory to pratical use. I believe the qualification did help me to preform better in terms of having better knowlegde of equipment so that diagnosing probelms was easier and this also helped with problem solving.

  • They are many activities at Syngenta to get involved in from charity events down to team-building exercises in the lake district. I always got involved in the community scinece labs which we held for schools so that we could show them what study STEM can get you in terms of career options. I went on school visits to promote apprenticeships and also went on networking events around how are product is used and looked at what industries we link with.
