  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I start the day with the daily checks on the services area e.g. boilers, compressors, water treatment plant etc. I then look at the book of weekly PMs to see what can be done, if theres not another improvement or breakdown job to be getting on with. I spend the rest of my day doing PMs or breakdown jobs that may occur.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I have learnt all about how the services area works at Britvic. this includes running the boilers, compressors, water treatment plant etc. I have increased my mechanical knowledge greatly and have started to learn a bit more about electrics. I will be moving to the facilities area soon where I will increase my electrical skills more.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship a lot. I wouldn't want to be working in any other profession and I don't think I'd want to be doing my apprenticeship anywhere else. Britvic leeds has welcomed me into the company and I feel I have settled In very very well.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme is very well structured. the balance of college and work time is managed very well and I feel I have plenty of support if I need help at both work and college. there are plenty of resources available to me and if I require additional resources, they can be made available.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is very supportive about my education and my progression to becoming a highly skilled engineer. he see's training courses and additional help as a necessity, not an obligation. I am very happy with the support I have received through my journey so far.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive as much help as can be given to me considering I am doing a higher level course. I am very happy with the support I receive from my teachers and if I require additional support they are always happy to help me as much as they're allowed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don't feel as though what I am currently learning does help much towards my role. the first year of college has helped a lot as that gave me the basic principles of engineering. this year we are doing a project and maths, which doesn't play much part in helping me in my role. next year of HNC will though as I am doing plc and electrics.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there is a football tournament that happens between all the different shifts. this happens every year and allows people to get involved in a sport. there also comes up stuff like the tough mudder for anyone wishing to participate. we occasionally go out together as a team for a few drinks and a meal.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • they have welcomed me into the company very well. everyone here is very friendly. the quality of engineering is very high and I feel I will learn a lot here. my manager [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is very helpful and all the managers I have met have always been sound. would definitely recommend.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Britvic?
  • make sure you have experience in an engineering environment whether this is practically e.g. fixing cars or motorbikes, or at college e.g. doing product design for GCSE or a level. be confident and friendly as you'll need to be communicating constantly with people when you work at Britvic.
