  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since starting at CGI, I have learned so many new, transferable skills within the IT and Business Sector as well as developed skills I already had. I have developed my business and administration skills, learned how to gather and analyse project reports, how to work directly with clients and developed my personal and team skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme I am on is amazing, it gives you the opportunity to go to University and study an exciting degree as well as gain meaningful experience in the workplace. I am part of a sports and social club so I don't feel like I missed out from university social life.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured in terms of being 3 years long, attending university one day a week for two semesters a year and completing the programme in the third year. The university could improve how and when they provide module deadlines as these seem to change quite a lot.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • CGI is a fantastic employer and they offer so much support. Every student on the programme is allocated a workplace mentor and a buddy who has been on the programme. The workplace mentor assists you in your module, provides feedback and is a great source of help. We also receive allocated study days outside of semesters.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The university supplies very good support for students on the programme, and they understand that we work full time so study time can be sparse. We are provided resources on sharepoint as well as access to tutors in person and over email and are recommended resources to assist in completing assignments.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The theory learned at university is extremely helpful in the workplace, especially the more technical focussed modules. Learning more about technical aspects of theory has helped me to understand basic context in the workplace when others are talking or giving me information. It has also assisted me to understand more in the business field.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • CGI has a sports and social club which I am part of and it offers so many social events from London bars, to water sports to theatre productions. It is a great way to meet new people from the business. CGI also run a number of professional networking events where seniors are present and mingling.

  • 9a. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend CGI to a friend because the work and social ethos there is amazing. You feel part of a family and are always supported and well looked after by the company. Not only this but they strive for their members to become better by offering training and promotion prospects.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • When applying to CGI it is really important to be yourself which is something I tell everyone. It is also good to show enthusiasm in a subject which you are passionate about as well as evidencing how you can work well in a team and on your own showing initiative.
