1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a software development apprentice i will be writing software programmes for applications, manually testing my work and then pushing that work on to someone else in the development team to further the process. As a developer you must think logically and never give up on problems you face.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, after finishing the boot camp course i have learned lots in web development and learning a new development language, which i can take to work place projects.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme, there is lots of work to be done for the end qualification but its in a relaxed environment so it makes the whole process much easier and i find i can work better.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured for example mine is split up into, Boot camp course (3 months), Knowledge Module Exam, Vendor Qualification, Project work collecting evidence and then a synoptic project where we have 1 week to make what we want.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

Lots of support, when we joined we are all assigned a buddy who is someone who has been there roughly a year or 2 and they look after you getting started if you have any small questions you don't want to ask the manager you can always ask them.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have monthly placement visits by our placement coach from the training provider which is a really helpful because it gives me and idea of where i'm at and what i need to do to further progress in the qualification.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The training provider provide me with the essential skills and concepts to take to the work place and they also give you the skills to learn new things. So the training provider has been really hepfull.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Personally i haven't, but there is a sports and social club for anyone that would like to get involved with external activities etc.

9a. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

Its a relaxed work environment and the workplace benefits are really good, they also make you feel part of the team even when you have first started.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?

To be yourself, in the interviews there will always be what are you good/bad at and just be honest, from my experience an employer/interviewer would rather you be honest about yourself. It also does not matter if you are the most confident in the room its if you work well in a team, listen and communicate your ideas as well. Good Luck.
