Working in the mainframe environment using database management system DB2 in order to store company data. This requires new tables to be created and existing tables to be altered. Tables also need to be set up with specific requirements to meet project specifications
I have learned to code using the languages JAVA and COBOL. I have also enhanced my existing skills on data. For example, relational integrity
Thoroughly. There is the right mix of support and task variety. So you are always learning or adding to an existing skill
The structure is pretty clear, the degree course is four years long which you get 1 day a week to attend. The other 4 days are in the office working in your specific team
Plenty of support is available. Whether this be from mentors in your teams, apprentice buddies, line managers etc. There is also a large range of learning sources available to use for example, pluralsight.
Face to face support is always offered along with email support. Moodle also contains most content which will be required for the qualification and is formatted pretty well
It provides me with a large variety of skills in and around my job role. As a result, it allows me to perform my job role better and also understand the teams within the same area more clearly
Plenty, there is a society for pretty much any sport and networking events for apprentices and graduates
Yes
there is a great culture, everyone is willing to help you and pass their knowledge on to you. So, it is a great place to learn whilst working.
