  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • Work experience at Ey involved completing work towards gaining a level 2 CMI team leading qualification. It was an opportunity to develop and better a number of various business skills such as communication skills, team leading and problem solving. Each business skill was taught to us and we were given opportunities to put what we had learned into good practise, for example we were given the task of presenting to some senior members of the business in pairs which allowed us to put our new skills learnt to use.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • My work experience was organised very well each day throughout the course a detailed itinerary was available which had timings which we could stick to throughout the day to ensure we were productive. Every day we were given lunch and allocated breaks even within the busy schedules. The content of what we were learning had obviously been worked on for a long while and was extremely detailed and thorough throughout.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • The last week of the course was a good way to develop an understanding on the atmosphere in the workplace and how you would need to conduct yourself appropriately. The main way I gained an understanding of what it would be like to work at Ey was through working with the staff members that we were paired up with and just listening to their experiences and suggestions.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was paid for the course as a whole at the end of the work experience, the lunch was provided for free each day and so were the drinks. I was reimbursed for my travel costs for getting to and from the office via bus straight after the course had ended.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • The work experience provided endless opportunities to network and meet other employees throughout, everyone was assigned a mentor who we could use to our advantage. There were many opportunities to interact with employees other than our mentor, for example their was an celebration night to congratulate us on the completion of the course and this was a perfect opportunity for us to interact and engage with the other employees.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The work experience I completed was very enjoyable for myself and was immensely beneficial at the same time, the course is a great talking point for my CV and many of my previously weak skills were massively improved from course completion. It was a great way to network and now I have a number of employees within the business I could contact if necessary in the future.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • In my opinion I would just suggest to join Ey with a open mindset and really just make a good effort with engaging in the activities and task set in order to make the most of out a great opportunity. Also trying to be as approachable as possible would be beneficial to achieving the most out of course.
