  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Managing the hospitality department; planning and executing events, updating and designing online ordering system, attending meetings with clients regarding their requirements and showing them how to use the online ordering system. Stocktaking, financial information and input onto the system. Moving stock into place, managing four sports bars and the requirements every Wednesday and Saturdays.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot more theory behind the hospitality industry and how to engage the team in their own learning which not only benefits them but also benefits the department and the overall service given to customers. My leadership has come on leaps and bounds since partaking in this apprenticeship as there was a great focus on leadership and how to adapt my leadership style to different individuals.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the programme as there was lots to learn - however some of the assignments were quite repetitive as they had the same first topic. However, this meant that by the time I finished this was ingrained in my brain and I knew the information off the top of my head.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very well structured - with a plan from the start of when each assignment was due and the breakdown of each assignment so I knew what was required. I had the plan for the apprenticeship from the start so I knew when the assessments would be and what they would consist of and having this knowledge from the start was very useful so I could plan ahead.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I received from my employer was more in the way of being given the time to complete my assignments and assessments. Also when completing the assignments if I needed any advice my employers were on hand to offer their support. Being given the time during work to complete the assignments was valuable as I could reflect on my experiences and use this in my assignments.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from my learning provider was constant throughout and was there for me throughout the training. My learning provider was at the end of the phone should I have needed her, and then she was available via email and responded very quickly if I had a query. Then when it came to the gateway meeting and end point assessment the individuals were very helpful and supportive throughout.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that this apprenticeship has helped me gain the knowledge that I was missing before completing this apprenticeship. It has given me the theory behind the practical and I can more confidently apply this to my daily situations. I am also more equipped to deal with conflict as this was a big topic within my apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I attend the gym - or complete virtual gym workouts on a regular basis throughout the week to keep fit. I have recently got a puppy so I enjoy taking him for regular walks to ensure I exercise on a regular basis. I also enjoy going out with my friends once a month for cocktails.
