  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Software Engineering Apprenticeship currently working in a front-end role, assisting with the configuration set-up of an innovation platform, making changes and building some elements via html and CSS, liaising closely with the client communications team on design assets, branding and copy for the platform customisation. Responding to client stakeholder needs

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • New skills currently being learned include platform configuration and SSO set up, as well as experiencing the design and implementation of an innovation framework. Building on existing skills: html and CSS customisation and integration within a pre-built platform environment, thinking about design elements, UX & UI, liaising with client & team

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The company culture is open and friendly, with approachable individuals regardless of business rank. Most people are willing to help or provide advice. Networking is huge part of the company culture. The company offers a dynamic and continually changing atmosphere and promotes acceptance & integration.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Off-site training was well organised, setting a foundational base that was gradually built up on. Onsite training has been a bit erratic. Most developer roles are outsourced so it has been difficult finding a relevant project to work on and as yet I have not worked with other developers.

    2/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support received really depends on how much you ask for. Initially starting onsite was quite overwhelming and lacking in support. Particularly as we were chargeable from the outset and expected to apply for roles within the company from the outset. Support needs to be actively pursued.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have monthly meetings with our placement coach, where our progress is and current needs are reviewed/addressed. Our placement coach, emotional intelligence coach and technical coaches remain responsive and supportive as needed. However, placement liaison for our training provider could have done better and preparing our employer for arrival

    7/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It definitely helps. If I hadn't the 12 weeks of training with our training provider, I would have gained far less technical experience than I have at this stage. Particularly as developer roles are difficult to obtain in consultancy companies. Self-guided learning would be far more overwhelming & confusing, otherwise.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a range of professional networking events, with a particular focus on inclusivity. I am not aware of any sports teams, only because I haven't sought this out, but there are yoga and meditation classes.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would not readily recommend Accenture to a friend considering a Software Engineering Apprenticeship or a developer role. But I would recommend Accenture to friends interested specifically in consulting, project management, being product owners, or those looking to broaden their work experience. Accenture encourages staff to experiment with various roles.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Be open and honest and let your personality shine. Accenture is about the right fit, so don't pretend to be someone you are not. Be open to trying new things or things you normally wouldn't.
