  • • Engaging closely with developers, product owners, designers, and other test team members to deliver a world-class product • Exploring and evaluating features right through the development process, from inception to delivery (and beyond) • Participating in daily deployments by testing and verifying changes • Mentoring developers and testers on good testing practices • Advocating for testing and improving quality throughout the development process • Encouraging continuous improvement of ways of working • Actively encouraging the use of more technical testing such as automation, performance and security

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, the leadership team are always there for advice. They do lots of workshops and the staff are the greatest assest as they share there knowledge constantly and help you whenever you need it

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is the first time in a long time i can honestly say i enjoy my job. The people are work with are amazing. I am learning skills daily and it is a great challenge. I am given the chance to learn and put things into practise by myself and with support.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The team at booking.com do a great job at organising events to sit alongside my apprenticeship. They are great at sharing knowledge. The apprenticeship covers all the skills needed to be a tester and with the help from others around us i no that 9i will be successful

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Our employer are great at supporting, they allow us time during the day to achieve our studies. Whether that be for an exam or a training course. When studying for ISTQB and Agile, the staff at booking.com where great at supporting me through this doing 1-2-1 study sessions with people that had done the exam or are specialists in that area. I also have a mentor and a team manager for support if i need them too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a tutor who is there when needed, if i have a question i can reach out. The apprenticeship provider also allow us to attended courses that they think can help us in our journey. They also give us access to reading material.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the skills we have learnt allows us to think about the story's we work on and think about what sort of testing i can do to achieve a product that the customer wants. It allows me to support others in the company if i have leant something that may help testing i am given the platform to do so

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At booking.com we do lots of events, wether that be learning event or social. We have social events with teams and the company as a whole. With free drink Friday to test conferences where we can talk about and learn news skills and meet people for different offices. We also have guilds where we discuss what we are passionate about and how we can improve process' which allow us to talk to management and sell our points. I am an a member of the community guild, which we strive to get booking.coms name out into the community and allow us to teach others about what we do and try to make them passionate about it. So we do workshops for schools, speak at events, some of us are stem ambassador . I am currently working on a project to do some workshops with children in the care system. We do lots of classes we can get involved in, sports, yoga. We also want to improve our impact on the environment so we are allowed to volunteer on projects in the city.

  • Yes

  • booking.com are very employee centred company, making sure that their learning and development are the centre of everything as well as making sure they give their customers the best experience possible. They offer flexible working so you don't miss out on family time. They are also very good at supporting mental health, having first aiders. They offer so much more than a money making business they are like a 2nd family


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Booking.com?
  • trust yourself and allow others to guide you. If you have a passion for travel and technology this is a place for you. It fast moving and not one day is the same. If you want to learn daily and make new friends and think outside the box its definitely the place for you
