  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Absolutely! GSK has helped me to develop a magnitude of skills ranging from teamwork to accountability. The support provided by my manager and the apprenticeship team helps me to develop and grow. I feel that I am able to really contribute to the work in a productive way.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure for my apprenticeship is still slightly undecided as it is the first time GSK has run this apprenticeship. However, so far I have been able to attend lot of events. Also the structure is great as it allows me to slowly build my understanding.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My University lecturer always marks my work on time and provides great constructive feedback. Furthermore, all of my questions have been answered swiftly with great explanations. Communication from the University was a bit poor at the start of the apprenticeship though.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far my qualification is not that relevant to my role as I do not need to apply the science I learn. However, I am starting a module on good clinical practise, which will be vital for my role next year.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At Stockley Park, we hold lots of STEM events for students and children, which are run by the apprentices and industrial placement students. This provides a great experience to develop my transferable skills.

  • 9a. Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • GSK is the first ever company I have worked at. So far, everybody who I have met has been kind and supportive. I am treated as an actual employee rather than a student and the respect I receive is amazing. I could not recommend a better company.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
  • Make sure you read up on the company and know its core values and expectations. Also ensure that you are happy to live with those values and they line up with your own personal values.
