  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • This apprenticeship has been one of the best I've done. It is my 3rd, and hopefully final, apprenticeship, and I have never had as much support as what I get now! Work gives us plenty of time to be able to complete the units, and having regular contact with my assessor is so helpful. Brilliant course and a brilliant assessor. Thank you!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills during my apprenticeship, as I came into this industry with hardly any prior experience. I was a mechanic before starting with Openreach, and so had some foundational knowledge of wiring and electricity, but nowhere near as in depth knowledge as what I have been taught over the last 12 months

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I highly enjoy this apprenticeship course. As I have previously mentioned, I have completed 2 before this, most recently was an NVQ LV2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, and during that course, I never had enough time to complete all of the required modules without heavily breaking in to my own personal time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation is amazing. We have had our study days planned and organised months in advanced, that way we know what we need to prepare, and have the confidence of knowing that we have plenty of time to prepare. if we feel that we haven't been able to prepare, our assessor is always just at the end of the phone.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive far more support from my employer than I ever had as a mechanic. We are given set study days with our assessor which are a god send, as well as having support from management by way of evidence gathering. I can confidently say that if I felt I needed extra evidence, I could call my manager and I would be supported straight away.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive all the support we need from anyone and everyone we ask. There is a great camaraderie within the company, and you always get the feeling that everyone wants you to do your best. I don't get why we always have to put at least 50 words though.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that this qualification gives us an overwhelming understanding of the job. All of the extra support helps us to further build on knowledge gained in the field, and is invaluable to our constant progress. Again, this word count is far too high. I have explained my point well.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I don't know.
