  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Our job role changes every 6 months. We rotate around each area of the production line to gain a full understanding of the entire process to make our products. Currently I work on an assembly line, and maintain the machines that assemble our products. This involves attending breakdowns and robot faults and routine weekly checks of machines.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt more about the safety aspects that need to be considered when working with machinery. I have learned about controlling robots and fault finding on a production line.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I think it's fantastic, the number of opportunities presented to you are endless and whatever you put into it is what you will get out at the end. I really enjoy my work \nd would highly recommend this apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure seems to have recently improved a lot more since some changes have been implemented. We are waiting to see if these will be successful but I have a much clearer route that I seem to be taking now that I am having routine discussions with my manager.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have full support from my employer with college work and my personal life and health, as well as financial support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get a lot of support when it comes to needing time in order to get things done, however some of the workers have not done my college course so there isn't always resources on hand to help with specific questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the background knowledge is important especially at level 3 however a lot of the learning is not fully utilised when reaching the higher levels of qualifications.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of events of all types. Sports, networking and social activities are abundant and everybody is encouraged to get involved.

  • 9a. Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company is massive and well known so provides a great starting point for any future employment. The benefits are massive in terms of health and finance and everybody seems always help you to do the best you can.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
  • Ensure that you are good at social interaction and always eager to learn. Get involved in non-curricular activities and do something good for your community to prove that you have compassion so they can see that you truly care about the people we are helping around the world.
