  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Maintain and attend break fix for filling machines for ellipta devices. Electrical, mechanical, controls and calibrations are some of the many skills needed for this role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained a completely new skill set from calibrations and electrical to mechanical work. I am now more proficient at working with my hands and getting stuck in.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • At times the job can be a little boring if there isn't much on but very rarely are we not busy. When busy it is a fast pace highly pressure environment that is very enjoyable to work in.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As the years went on the structure became better and better. We changed training providers for years below me which seemed a much better option. GSK have worked hard to produce a very well structured apprenticeship.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Every step of the way there was always somebody there to help me whenever I needed it. I never felt like I was isolated or told to do anything I didn't have the skill set to do.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our original training provider was very poor but this quickly got fazed out so that now we have a better basis for our apprenticeship. I myself didn't directly deal with out new training provider, Gen 2, but I have only heard positive comments.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The HNC which I received didn't relate very much to what I do at work, I felt it was just a hoop to jump through. I cannot comment on our new training provider.

    3/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra curricular activated to get involved in, having our own sports and social club on site really helps. Networking is a massive part of GSK and there are plenty of ways you can do this.

    9/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The fantastic opportunity it ahs given me to learn and adapt previous skills in becoming a fully skilled technician.
