  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Taking on my own job requisitions, inviting candidates to interviews/assessment centres, arranging interviews/assessment centres, taking part in Diversity and Inclusion work to decrease the gender pay gap. I shortlist candidates and telephone screen them before inviting them for an interview. Help out with the Undergraduate and Apprentice assessment centres.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have massively increased my confidence skills by taking on my own job requisitions and interviewing candidates over the phone which has pushed me out of my comfort zone. My communication skills have developed by being part of multiple projects and communicating with candidates on a baily basis. My IT skills have developed as I now use Excel, Word and PowerPoint almost everyday as well as using survey monkey often.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • At the start of my apprenticeship there was a bit of confusion as my training provider hadn't been set up therefore was short for work at the beginning but that soon changed a month into my placement. At times it has been tricky meeting the criteria for my apprenticeship as I feel that it is more agency based where as I am an internal recruiter but with the support of my manager and mentor I have been able to get past this and meet the criteria in other ways.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that my programme is well structured but maybe the criteria could be more rounded so that it is relevant to recruiters who don't work in an agency as well. There are 2 sides to my apprenticeship: NVQ and Certificate. The NVQ side is demonstrating the skills that you have learnt where as the Certificate side is knowledge, so completing assignments.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, especially my line manager. I have a weekly catch up with my line manager to review my apprenticeship/work load to make sure that I am not struggling with anything. When there has been times that I am struggling to meet the criteria for my apprenticeship work, my line manager has been really supportive and we go through it together.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive some support from my training provider, when I have been stuck with questions before on an assignment she has organised a call between the two of us to go through the questions to see how I could answer them. When I am set assignments, a few of them have been sent to me with links/videos in the answer box to help me when answering the question which has helped massively.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification helps me to perform better in my role as I am learning about the legal side of things as well; what we can/can't do when recruiting. The qualification helps me to understand what I am actually doing and why I am completing certain tasks which enables me to complete tasks to a better ability.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes! Loads- there is a gym onsite which offers classes, you can become a STEM ambassador, team offsite days, you can have 5 volunteering days a year. I believe that in summer out the front on the grass you can play games like football and rounders as there are football goals to use.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would 100% recommend Pfizer to anyone, it is such an amazing company to work for. From the start of my apprenticeship I have been made to feel so welcome and feel like part of a team. I was trusted with projects from the start and I don't feel like I am seen as 'just an apprentice'. There is so much that Pfizer can offer, no matter your status, from a multi faith room to beauty treatments on site.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer?
  • To anyone applying for a role at Pfizer- be yourself! Don't try be someone that you aren't. It is such a great company to work for and can accommodate to all needs. Pfizer is focused on bringing in the best talent and having a diverse range of colleagues so no matter your status or disability, apply for your dream job!
