  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title within barclays is a premier banker. The day to day tasks include dealing with customers queries and or complaints in an effective and efficient way in which satisfies the customers expectations and needs. On a daily basis there is regular interation internally and that is through the seperate departments, in which they are needed when i forfill the customers need myself, this could be for example, the online banking helpdesk who deal with in depth queries around online banking issues. My responsibilities would include being there for my customers by taking breaks efficiently and making sure my not ready and walk away are at the lowest possible. Also to give my customers what they need whether thats doing the basic transactional queries or looking at the customers latent needs to pro actively help them when i can see they may need it.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Barclays?
  • I enjoy the programme as it has allowed me to gain employment along with the additonal support and learning throughout the year. Coming to work does not feel like a chore like most jobs could, as the team i work in isn't just a colleague based relationship its more like a big family so coming to work seems sociable and fun. There's always a joke being said but we all understand each other in a professional way so we all mix the work role and friendships in a reasonable way.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The way Barclays have supported me throughout my apprenticeship has been exceptional. There is not a bad word i could honestly say about barclays as an employer as throughout the year i have been assisted and supported in each and every way possible which has made me grow personally and professionally. There's always internal recognition within the live floor such as community meetings to get together and recognise each and every one of us.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • As a training provider i personally think emfield have just been there to guide me through the stages of the programme as i feel there is no real involvement within my actual job role. There was a work book and reviews with the trainer but nothing specifically aimed at my actual job role.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support and assistance recieved from the people at work has been the most appreciated throughout this year, specifically i would say my team leader has been my biggest support throughout my journey and that would be both professional and personal, building this relationship has allowed me to come into work and enjoy it without having to worry as there was alway a resolution from my team leader whenever there was a problem. As i said in question 3 coming to work is enjoyable and fun and this is mainly because of the relationship our team have with each other.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is quite good for the fact that it is an apprenticeship scheme, this shows that barclays arent just looking at us at apprentices but as colleauges who are learning just the same as anybody else. Theres always a home/work life balance and with the salary the balance is very comfortable.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is what barclays call a scheme called sports and social this gives the people who partake a chance to gain discounts from a wide range of places to eat and drink and also events. There has recently been a volunteering event for the great north run in which i took part in, this again was not a chore but was fun, enjoyable and very satifying and i would have no hesitations in doing it again.

  • 9. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • i would because it gives you a lot more than what you would expect.it makes you grow as an individual and within a team.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • I would advise people throughout the application to be nothing but themselves, honest and calm. From the day when you are told you have secured a place that is the day that it all changes and for the better, Barclays is not just a job but a career so this is potentially life long depending on how much effort you put into the programme and the more you put in, most definitely means the more you gain!
