  • everyday is different but my tasks are to unload the van, take my equipment inside, have a coffee, speak with customers and people working with me, i make sure im always wearing the correct ppe for the correct job, such as, using gloves, dust mask and a high vis m

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have learnt lots of everyday new skills such as, to be more productive, like getting all the essentials done before everything else, i've learnt how to use a paint brush for example, cutting in, rolling etc, how to prep for painting. i've learnt that there are lots of different paints and paint brushes.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i really do enjoy my course, for example my work has taught me lots of new skills like how to use as paint brush, such as cutting in rolling etc i have learnt that there are lots of different types of brushes. i have a one file account that i can use of collect my evidence and i am looking forward to doing that.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my course is very well structured to the way i like it too, i come into college 3 days a month to do exams, functional skills and working in the workshop, when i'm not in college im at work decorating, i have to take photos and videos of me at work in the correct PPE to send back to my college teacher.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i receive lots of support, he has taught me how to use a paint brush and other brushes, how to roll a wall , how to do all prep work etc, he has been very supportive to my development and my training. my experience has been very positive and i enjoy my job.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • my training provider is very helpful at time when I don't understand the wording in my course work, he has showed me new tips and tricks on how to use a paint brush and roller, he always gives me different advice that helps with my work every time I ask if I don't understand something.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • it will help a lot with my role because I will have all the knowledge I need to do my job safely and perfectly, and I will have an understanding on how to work on site as a painting and decorator well. I feel my training provider has helped me in the best way possible to have learnt new skills practically and with my course work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes they do do extra activities for example, I did a 6 week course to try out PGL College, at the end they took us on a trip to a site where they would be building a new building, which we could help do, in college there are bricklaying workshops, carpentry workshops, plumbing workhops and painting and decorating workshops which they let me have a go at doing all jobs in the workshops.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Fenchurch Decorating to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • because from my experience I had a go at trying all the trades they provided and I chose painting n decorating which put me on a course straight away when they gave me a company to call up and get work experience to try out and then I was lucky to have been accepted in that company. so PGL I feel is the best college to start a career


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fenchurch Decorating?
  • as long a you show you want to take part and you want to learn they'll give you as much help you need, be polite and clear to one and another especially to the teachers. you do not need to be 'smart', you just need to show you really want to learn.
