  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have greatly enjoyed my apprenticeship, i have met many wonderful people who were welcoming and encouraging. the work is varied and there are always new things to learn. Going to university provides a nice change to working life and provides the oportunity to increase my knowledge and understanding of engineering.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This apprenticeship is okay although there are some issues. the college we start in is poorly run with exam dates being changed last minute and feedback no being given out. the work side is better but there can still be some confusion due to poor comunication between college and the company

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel very supported in my role as a facilities apprentice, the senior engineers allow us time to complete uni work and are always availble if we need to ask them questions. I have also been provided with a mentor who i have been shadowing for the last 6 months.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The college provides little useful help in getting our qualifications. They tend to give support to the teaching staff instead of the student and not listening to complaints. I believe this has hindered our learning. university has been better with designated departments for student wellbeing and care and are seperate form the achedemic staff.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that this is about a 50-50 split, some of the modules that we are completing related to my department and benifit my work. While other have no relation to my job role and aren't useful in my department. This is similar to the colege course we did in our first two years.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have access to all the university activities but while working is is hard to find the free time to commit to these activities. My department puts on work night out but these are all unoffical activies set up and run by the employees. these include meals out and five a-side football

  • 9a. Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Jaguar Land Rover have provided me with a good job and a fully funded degree. the company pays well and the job comes with mutiple employee benifits like discounts of rugby tickets, attraction parts and when shopping. There are good oportunities to progress within the business and they are very supportive of any training you wish to complete.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • Research the company and read some of the history of the company and how it fits into british culture and supports british values. be confident in your interview and have some engineering examples for different situations. you will be tested on your practical skills and problem solving ability during your assesment center as well as a group task and a 1-2-1 interview.
