  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work for a care company that provides care in people's homes. On a day to day basis I answer phone calls and queries and transfer these to the relevant employee. I also shadow employees in their tasks and assist them with their workloads. I type documents which are used and implemented in the office by all employees. I am also responsible for the archiving for the company.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have developed my communication skills through constantly answering the phones and dealing with queries. I have developed my ICT skills through the constant use of the computer. I have learnt how to run the rosta for the carers which is quite complex as we have over 100 care staff.

  • i am enjoying the program as i am constantly learning new things and the office involves me in day to day tasks.

  • The programme is well organised. I am given enough time to learn tasks within the office and complete all apprenticeship tasks as well.

  • My employer are very supportive in my progression, they have reviews with me to make sure that i am on track and give me all of the support i need.

  • My training provider supports me well when working towards my qualifications. I recieve speedy responses to any queries i have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the tasks which i am asked to do for my qualification aid in the workplace, as it gives me the background knowledge i need to know for my day to day tasks.

  • I feel i have received a lot of support from the company when needed.

  • i would advice somebody to research the care sector. as i had not worked in this environment before there were a lot of things that i did not know about when starting.
