I am a test technician apprentice and this involves being the middle man between the engineers who write the tests and the fitter/testers who actually run the tests. On a day to day basis this involves assisting the fitters in running the tests.
I have learnt many new skills regarding tests of cars and the software that we as a company use to test the powertrains.
I enjoy the programme most of the time despite it being a bit long sometimes and the lack of organisation up to this point regarding our pay being messed up almost weekly and people not really knowing who the higher apprentices are.
Not very if I am being honest. At the start of the programme people didn't really seem to know who we were or where we should be going especially at college.
We receive support from certain areas within our employer however with the now disbanded training team in our area things are starting to become more difficult to get the support which we require on certain cases
We receiver lots of support from the college when working towards our qualifications as well as ways to improve our results.
I feel that certain things like the maths and the science do help me to perform better in my role however other aspects such as the business management and how to run a company units don't reflect our job role at all and are useless in my eyes.
Not that I have been made aware of.
Yes
Because all though there is issues it does seem that other people have had different experiences on different programmes or at other areas of the business.
Read deeply into what area you are applying for as when I applied I didn't and the areas available to me now are very different to the ones I thought I was applying for.
