We are required to overhaul aircraft engines. We rotate around each section within the facility, making us more familiar with the overhaul process and the jobs that are required.
I have learnt a numerous amount of new skills. Working in GE has introduced me into the engineering industry and the important responsibilities that come with it. Each day working onsite is testing my problem solving skills, electrical understanding and communications skills, between other members of the team.
I have really enjoyed the apprenticeship programme. It has introduced me to the engineering industry, whilst meeting new people and forming new relationships.
I believe that GE's apprenticeship programme is well structured as it introduces you into the industry in your first year in college. After the first year, you are put in the working environment and college all in the same week. However, I believe that the college course could be more aviation focused, especially for the electrical department.
I receive as much support I could possibly need, with my manager and peers always willing to help.
We are provided with regular meeting to ensure we are working towards our qualifications correctly and that we are on track. Any queries we have can be resolved within these meetings.
Completing the qualification teaches you on how to work towards a goal. The qualifications require you to complete work in different areas, testing your own ability when you are working in an unfamiliar environment.
The apprenticeship program provides a team bonding week at the start of the apprenticeship, which is a great ice breaker. It also runs martial arts lessons on a weekly basis.

It is a fantastic company to work for. Working for the company gives you a major sense of responsibility, which really tests your skills. You are introduced to a huge community of friendly people who are willing to pass their skills and knowledge down to you.
Familiarise yourself with the industry and the responsibilities you have once employed. Work on your problem solving skills and any other relevant skills you may posses or want to gain.
