  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • The first part of my experience involved a health & safety induction to get me comfortable in the environment, and to ensure that I knew how to work safely within the business. Over the next two days I worked in parts - the first in the calls and enquiries centre, the second in the inventory looking at stock management. The final two days of the week was at a vehicle conversion specialist where I worked with the vehicle logistics coordinator helping to organise the correct locations of new vans and then quality control checking them at the end of their production.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I took a total of 5 health & safety courses from iHasco during my induction which have actually helped me further in my product design A Level studies. These can also go on my CV which is very useful. I also received learning of the parts invoicing system, and also vehicle data sheet management.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I found my work experience extremely enjoyable. Every single member of staff that is worked with was kind, knowledgable and very open to every question that I had to ask. This made sure I came out of the experience having learnt a lot of new theory. This work experience is most definitely one of the best that I have ever been involved in.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The placement was very well organised once I had started my initial communications with the Apprentice Manager. She gave me a form to fill out and then she took those details and merged them into a placement that was as well suited to my needs as could be possible. All of the staff knew that I was coming which helped them to organise where I could go straight away.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • Quite a lot - more than I thought I would, although this should be a major part of applying to a work experience anyway. I can see that Motus offer a very team focused working environment with everybody looking out for each other, which is fab. I think Motus would be a great place to work in the future - everybody is so friendly and what more could you ask for when you work alongside vehicles of that calibre each day!

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • It has established to me that I do want to continue into a career in Supply Chain Management - I wanted to use this placement to see what working in a smaller scale business would be like , and to see what challenges people who work at the company face each day. It has allowed me to make a comparison to this, which has been particularly insightful to me.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • 1/10

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • Massive opportunities - this was the whole idea of taking the work experience really. I’ve managed to expand my LinkedIn profile, and communicate with people that work in the industry that I want to move into, which has been incredibly useful to me. Getting different peoples viewpoints of the industry should help me in the future with my own careers aspirations.

  • 9a. Would you recommend MOTUS Commercials to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because the experience that I had was superb. It was also surprisingly easy to arrange the placement which is not something that can be said for other places of work that I have studied in. All of the staff that i worked with were incredibly friendly and knowledgable and they made sure that my placement was fantastic. Anyone would be crazy not to apply for an opportunity like this!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MOTUS Commercials?
  • Like with any other company, I would suggest being yourself, and making sure that you are extremely organised as it gives a great first impression. Also take time to understand company values, and some key developments in the business which should help to impress in an interview scenario. To me, Motus are looking for passionate, hard working and motivated employees who enjoy taking on new challenges.
