I support current project work within the labs, prepare protocols for experiments, complete write ups and present data at team meetings. I carry out weekly safety checks of labs. Carrying out an independent research project
I have developed my presentation skills more by presenting in team meetings and to other networks. I have had training on various different equipment within the labs. I have furthered my scientific knowledge from university learnings. Improved on organisational skills and time management.
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship, I feel I am able to take on responsibilities within the work place which are helping me to develop for the future. I enjoy university and the new knowledge I am gaining. Working in new teams on new project work.
I would say that it is structured well from what I have seen so far but organisation needs to be improved on, as there had been a few issues with university and with obtaining certain information regarding the apprentice books.
Whenever I have had an issue or a question I have been able to get support from someone, my supervisor is fantastic and always has time if I need to discuss something. I have been offered support throughout my current time here.
The support could be better as there are lots of students in lectures, one on one/small group discussions do not happen which would support me more in my learning style. I can only talk to lecturers one day a week in person if I have an issue.
The lectures I have been in have been connected to what I am currently carrying out in the workplace which helped me further understand why I am doing these experiments and the bigger picture and the science behind what is happening.
There isn't a lot of extra-curricular activities to get involved in, there is the occasional social meal but I would say that there could be more to create a better relationship between colleagues.
Yes
Pfizer is one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world, therefore you would be gaining a vast amount of knowledge and quality experience from amazing scientists who are friendly and supportive.
Be yourself and do your research on the role you want to apply for.
