  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So much, everyday goes by so quickly as each job we get sent down is extremely practical, so one part of the job could take up to a couple hours whereas another job within a telephone exchange could only take up a short amount of time. so much to learn

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure is pretty good, we have a hierarchy of managers at the top, ranging down from apprentaschip managers, then the coaches which help you with your further skill, patch managers and senior engineers which i buddy up with on a day to day basis in the field. good structure

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There are a set of item workshops for the nvq process, 13 items need to be done so they provide 13 workshop days. all information is relayed to me through email or work phone, without these qualifications i can’t get through the 12month process to complete my apprentaschip year so it’s a priority

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So the nvq allows me to learn every single thing i need to become a fibre engineer, without these qualifications or these training days i wouldn’t the able to get through the job packs and day to day being live in the field. So it helps a lot while i’m put on the job.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Very entertaining job, can’t get bored on. the job of your bored then it’s because you haven’t taken interest in learning, great pay & benefits even at the start of my apprentaschip, provided with tools and a vehicle and loads of responsibility, Proud to wear open reach gear

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Take it slow and no need to rush, the application process can become tiresome as it takes time, be prepared to work out in the field and give your all to the over head training & exams which follow. it’s not as daunting as it sounds and i have faced most of my fears!
