  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is a Business Admin Apprentice and i am a part of the Business Support Team ( Sandwich) We work in regulatory which means we support members of the GRA. My day-to-day tasks honestly vary. As i am a part of the business support team, we have a mailbox in which i work on 2 days a week. These requests can range from expenses, travel (booking flights, hotels, cars etc.), to planning a meeting/event. No day is the same. As well as this i also give one to one support to two senior directors, in which i am there direct admin support, so i do expenses, travel, meeting rooms etc. all for them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills since starting my apprenticeship. I have become more confident. I have learned email etiquette, i have increased my overall knowledge of how a business works. I am also learning how to adapt to a work environment and handling conflicts or situations that i have not dealt with before. I am also learning about how I cope in situations that may apply pressure too.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my opportunity to have gotten this apprenticeship at Pfizer. I am enjoying the variety of tasks that i have been doing as well as learning more about myself. I have been blessed with such a supportive team who i work with, as well as the most supportive manager ever. Without this support my apprenticeship would be no where near as special or interesting!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Regarding my programme i would say it is structured fairly well. However when i first joined Cogent, there was a bit of an ordeal as i had to submit my paperwork numerous times, as well as my start date was never clarified. And so when i first initially joined that wasn't my start date, a month later was my actual start date. The programme in regards to Pfizer, has been brilliant though. I have a very supportive manager, who always makes time for me and is always available to offer guidance. The team that i work with are also so supportive, they helped train me, and still offer so much support, despite my growth i know i can always count on them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My Pfizer manager has been the most supportive person ever! She always makes time for me, and my workload as well as also being supportive. The amount of support i have honestly makes a real difference. As well as the support from my manager i also have a huge amount of support from the team i work with who always provide guidance when needed. I also see my tutor for my studies roughly every 6 weeks, which is helpful

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a good amount of support from my training provider. I have my tutors email and phone number which means i can contact her easily. I also have a face to face meeting with her every 6 weeks which is helpful, we use this time to talk about any queries concerns or problems i may have as well as using the time to talk about my progress.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it does help me perform better in some aspects. A lot of the features of my qualification are things that i do and use on a day-to-day basis which is great because it helps me improve on it. My main goal when getting this apprenticeship was to expand my overall knowledge on businesses and how they work, and i definitely think my qualification combined with working at Pfizer has definitely improved that.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My manager is the lead of the Sandwich Work Experience Programme which means i get to help with this! I have helped organise it, set the timetable, plan the days etc. I have also carried out my own work experience day, which was designed for the people who don't quite fit the criteria of the main programme. I have also carried out a festive gathering for the GRA.
