  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am paid work on the ward and assist the nursing staff with healthcare assistant duties whilst also learning from the nurses and gaining experience in different wards and sectors of health.

  • Yes, from the beginning I have been learning and still learning many different things not just from working on different wards but also from university.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it, though sometimes I am nervous about not having enough time to study and revise because I work quite a few hours. I also worry about not having my personal assessment development book signed by the nursing staff because they are always do busy.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think they are organised at London South bank, but there is quite a lot of room for improvement in terms of organisation at my trust. I think it is very important that us, the students, the trusts and the university have very good communication between us and listen to one anthers concerns.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have clinical learning and development team coming to see us at least once a week to see how are getting on and to raise any concerns at the trust, it really helps.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We do have a lot of support from university and many learning resources to help us with our course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have only just started but I can see by the amount I'm learning that the qualification will enhance my skills and experience a great deal through the apprenticeship.

  • No, not that I'm aware of. It sounds a like a good idea though.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because I think they are very keen on developing their staff's skills and helping them move forward in their career, employees really value that.

  • Make sure you know who to contact when you are unsure of anything. Make sure you communicate with the relevant people who are there to help you and keep p to date with your emails.
