I am paid work on the ward and assist the nursing staff with healthcare assistant duties whilst also learning from the nurses and gaining experience in different wards and sectors of health.
Yes, from the beginning I have been learning and still learning many different things not just from working on different wards but also from university.
I enjoy it, though sometimes I am nervous about not having enough time to study and revise because I work quite a few hours. I also worry about not having my personal assessment development book signed by the nursing staff because they are always do busy.
I think they are organised at London South bank, but there is quite a lot of room for improvement in terms of organisation at my trust. I think it is very important that us, the students, the trusts and the university have very good communication between us and listen to one anthers concerns.
We have clinical learning and development team coming to see us at least once a week to see how are getting on and to raise any concerns at the trust, it really helps.
We do have a lot of support from university and many learning resources to help us with our course.
I have only just started but I can see by the amount I'm learning that the qualification will enhance my skills and experience a great deal through the apprenticeship.
No, not that I'm aware of. It sounds a like a good idea though.
Yes
Because I think they are very keen on developing their staff's skills and helping them move forward in their career, employees really value that.
