I am a trainee clerks of works for the development team. I report on progress and quality on development sites to the project managers. I make sure all plots are being constructed to relevant standards, building regulations, our deign brief and the project specification.
I have developed a better understanding of the building regulations, what impact certain events have on a construction programme, the snagging process of residential properties, building pathology and time management.
So far i have thoroughly enjoyed every part of it. It is a real bonus getting to apply what i have learn at university straight away.
The programme is managed very well by the HR team here at GUHG. The university could be a little more organised but this is out of GUHG's control.
I receive all the support i require. HR are more then willing to help me with anything i need. My line manager is very supportive in helping me gain relevant knowledge. I am also supported by external sources to help me gain experience i wouldn't with my employer.
I receive a fair amount of support but i feel more could be given.
My qualification provides me with fundamental knowledge to be able to preform my role. I also have a better understanding of other roles and processes in the construction industry that directly effect my role.
There is always something going on at Grand Union from sporting activities year round, to projects that help the local community. They have been events where a group of people have got together to help re model a communal garden.
Yes
I was previously employed by another company which were not very supportive and the work atmosphere was very poor. At Grand union, everyone knows everyone. It is such a friendly environment and the senior members of staff (the CEO and directors) are always engaging with everyone making you fell valued.
