  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Completing Customer Journeys for every customer action, for example a customer journey would be "Making a Payment". There are near enough 250 different customer journeys that fall under "Uk Cards" (My department) alone. We map the back end services that are used to pass information and make sure that all the correct checks have been put in place to complete an action for the customer

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I currently enjoy the programme in terms of work aspect and my work life. Barclays has a good company culture, the people are really nice and the work is interesting. my only issue would be the university course i attend at MMU, i think that the programming module is not taught very well and is hard to understand if you have no prior knowledge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction i had when joining Barclays was useful and thorough, it gave me necessary information for starting at the company, i feel like i also have sufficient support at Barclays and feel like i can always talk to someone if i am having any issues or have a question. I have had a few problems with my team recently in regards to changing teams, but it was dealt with quickly and has all been sorted now.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I always receive support from my Manager, we have regular meetings to see how i am getting along and asks if i have any questions. The HR team is sometimes hard to contact but you can always get a response but it may sometimes take longer than expected. Overall. i feel like i am fully supported from my employer as i always feel like i have someone to talk too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get sufficient support from my tutor, i have his email and we have quarterly meetings to talk about work/university life, they are always friendly and answer any questions they can and if not they point my in the right direction to someone who can. I enjoy university mostly but just not the Programming course at all.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My 1st Year at university does not help me with my day to day job at all, i will never do programming in my role or Web Development and the things you learn do not relate to my job role. I have gained information from the course but just not useful information in regard to my job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, in my Location at Radbroke Hall there is a gym, extra curricular clubs, lunchtime sports like football, rugby and tennis, there are also always an event going on that relate to work to help further your knowledge around an area, they also do charity events like Walks for cancer and monthly collections on payday towards a charity chosen by the colleagues

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Barclays as it is a relaxed workplace where you are trusted to do your work, the work is interesting and the campus has a lot of things to do, the food is nice and has a variety of choice, there is chance to work your way up within the company and you can earn a degree whilst working at the same time with university paid for

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • Advice i would give is to not just limit yourself to Barclays as there is a lot of people that apply here and make sure you give yourself other options, i would also say that if you make it to the final assessment day, be yourself and speak to people as it helps you feel comfortable.
