  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day, I assist customers with finding and booking holidays, servicing existing bookings, and assisting with any complaints, cancellations, and amendments there may be. I also have e learnings and other work to complete for my apprenticeship, support my colleagues and team, answering phone calls, and assisting with the day to day runnings of the branch

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since starting my apprenticeship I have developed existing skills and learnt new ones too. I have become more confident in myself and when speaking to customers face to face and over the phone. I have gained a lot of travel industry knowledge and destination knowledge too. I have also developed skills in admin, customer service, etc.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working with a large team of eight as it gives me the opportunity to learn from many more people and develop good working relationships. I enjoy working as a team to achieve our targets, and to make the environment fun. It has exceeded the expectations I had for my apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In theory I feel like the programme runs well, however I personally find I don't get the amount of study time I need, or the support from my manager when I raise this. My induction was very good and the systems we use are great to keep you on track.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My team are happy to support me when I need them too, as is my apprenticeship assessor. My mentor understands the importance of getting the study time I need, and is helpful when I need my work signed or need witness statements etc. My manager can be very helpful but doesn't always give me the time I need.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider supports me to know and meet my deadlines, recognises my achievements and assists with things I am struggling with. She also supports me if needed when I am not getting the study time I need, and is helpful with the introduction of our new system. She has regular phone calls and meetings with me to track my progress.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The company care about their customers and their staff, and I feel very lucky to have a good team. There are so many opportunities within the company too such as cabin crew, being a rep abroad, progressing through the roles such as assistant manager to manager etc. and so much learning too

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • Apply online but also get to know the people in your local store too. Do a bit of research into the company in terms of values and products to get a really good idea of what the company is all about. To ask lots of questions in the interview. Know there are lots of opportunities within the company.
