  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Admin manager so In charge of all process, shrinkage, security, health and safety and compliance in store. Part of the senior leadership team. Have section leaders and colleagues sit under me. Day to day job around protection of profit, and compliance. New to role in last 3 months - worked on fresh replenishment prior.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Have developed skills academically so far in writing and critically thinking. Improved communication skills and confidence. As new to course haven’t really started fully increasing my skill set in role but know this will come in time. Only started course in the end of January 2020. I develop skills daily in my role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Having started the programme at the end of January 2020 I feel l am just beginning to understand what it entails - the weekly activities we have to complete help keep up with new occurrences in retail with an academic point of view, which I can then relate to my own job role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The weekly activities and lectures we have to listen to help keep structure and ourselves organised and to get into the habit of completely tasks timely. We attend university 3 times a year - which is a good balance for having a full time job - and allows us face to face time with our other cohort and lecturers.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Having only started the qualification I feel I haven’t needed the support from my employer yet - I need to get a structure in place to spend the time at work I need doing my work. I know that I will get the support from my line manager and store.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We received weekly feedback, web seminars, attend university 3 times a year. I haven’t needed to ask for any extra support but I know that if I needed to I could. There are various people I could ask - both academically and pastorally. The support is really good - and was clear from the start

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Shareholders week Community events Apprenticeships Some social activities Not sure what else - there a limited things socially that we do at work. Mainly due to health and safety, insurance and compliance. There are sometimes admin manager meetings that I attend and other forms of training at academies or other stores.
