  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a traninee tax advisor in the human capital, global mobility sector of financial services. I work in the banking and capital markets sector. I complete technical work such as preparing UK tax returns and UK tax reconcilliations whilst also completing a tax team assistant role for the global co-ordination and US side of my clients. I talk to clients daily through UK tax briefings and emails and also talk to external members of EY though email and regular weekly calls with our India team

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel I have developed enormously since starting EY. I am currently taking my CFAB qualification before I then progress to start my ATT exams. I often go on US and UK tax technical courses to help build my knowledge on expatriate tax and how other county's tax laws and legislations will affect UK returns and how we should deal with clients

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that due to this being the first year of the School Leaver Programme it could have been better organised as to the knowledge of those on the programme. This is due to there being a lot of queries as to the structure of the programme, timing of qualifications and salary increases and how we compare to graduate programmes and other members of staff
