  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is Change Support officer within the Programme and Projects environment. On a day to day basis I am travelling the country, attending meetings with memebers of my project team. We travel so much as our project team are based in many different locations across the UK and in order for us to work effectively together, its essential we have Face to face meetings at least once a month. I answer emails about communcations in my project and I am also responsible for the CRAID which looks at all the risks in my project. I liasie with SCS from HMRC on a daily basis and from an external point of view I speak with CAPGemini and Sols office. It is my responsibility to ensure all risks are documented and are in the process of being mitigated wherever possible.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been asked to apply to take the PRINCE2 course to develop my project skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the work that I do within HMRC. I like the fast paced environment I work in and the memebrs of my team are very kind and helpful. They are all very appreciative of the scheme I am on and know that it takes up a lot of my time. The scheme and job met my expectatios and more and I am reccomending all my friends to apply.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Civil Service?
  • I feel very valued by the Civil Service and feel as if I am given responsibilities that a seior memeber of staff would be given. I have been given a full structured role within my project which also furthers my knowledge for my NVQ.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There have been times when I have felt things are unorganised on the scheme such as the induction event in London. It would have been nice to have known a bit more context about the day, and for example, I was unable to book my own travel for this and things felt chaotic which isnt how I want to feel on my first induction with work. It often feels like things are piling on to top of me as there are lots of things to do for my NVQ and HNC whilst also balancing a full time, demanding job and a work life balance.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • From my assesor I receive support however sometimes I receive email after email which gets confusing especailly juggling a full time job and trying to get things done. I am concerned about this as the studying has not properly began yet and I am already feeling lots of pressure.

  • I receive lots of support from my manager.

  • Very well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes there are opportunites for us outside of work to do with DPM and The Cabinet Office however I have put myself froward for everyone of these opportunities and as of yet I havent been succesful in geting a place.
