  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my apprenticeship so far I have learnt a lot of new skills which will be useful for me in the future. I have learnt the basics of networking, how to build networks and also how to secure a network with the basic knowledge of firewalls. These skills will help me with gaining a CCNA.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Although my apprenticeship has a good layout the timing of some of the sections have been changed 2 or 3 times. But now we have finally settled on a layout that the trainers are happy with I feel I am making good progress from where I was at the start of the apprenticeship.

  • I receive a lot of support when doing my training as we have a really good trainer. He is there to help me whenever I have a question and even f he isn't in the same city he is available via email and will always get back to me with an answer or a solution to my problem.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification we are working towards is the CCNA. The training that we have had for this will help me majorly in my role. This is because the CCNA covers a wide variety of knowledge about networking, security and also connection types. This helps in my job role as I will have a better understanding of what i am actually doing and knowing how to resolve issues if I ever encounter any.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my workplace we have had a charity football event which was attended by a lot of members of the teams throughout the Peterborough site. Also every Tuesday a couple members of the team and I play football for an hour to have a good time and socialize. I feel this has helped me to settle in and make friends outside my work team.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Virgin Media O2 to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it is a great place to work for many reasons. The people are friendly and a laugh and the work itself is interesting. I would recommend though that the friend would need to be interested in IT so that they roughly know what to expect in the daily work aspect.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
  • I would advise that they come into Virgin with an open mind as there are many different places to work throughout Virgin so the place you start wont necessarily mean that that's the team you will be working in your whole time at virgin. Also I would advise that you take every opportunity you can as there are always things to take on and do.
