  • My role involves assisting on an array of matters in a manner similar to that of a trainee, common tasks include: drafting - contracts, court applications, statements of case client contact - attending meetings, attending court researching legal issues and discussing strategy with qualified lawyers.

  • I have learned many skills since starting the apprentice including presentational skills, drafting skills, analytical skills, research skills and advocacy skills.

  • I have no regrets about becoming an apprentice at burges salmon

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme has been changed since I started at the firm and is much improved now to ensure apprentice development is consistent and engaging

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A good support network, if I were having issues I would feel comfortable speaking with many people in the firm.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The provider are committed to helping as much as possible but much of the course comes down to personal discipline

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • While studying law is useful and clearly necessary for being a lawyer, I have never felt unable to perform in my role because I have not studied a certain area of law. Many lawyers share the sentiment that a law degree is irrelevant to being a solicitor.

  • We have a vast array of social clubs and events

  • Yes

  • The firm have a comprehensive view for the apprenticeship and really understand and value the role of an apprentice.

  • It is a people driven firm, be interested engaged and enthusiastic
